Claude Code bridges for Apple apps and tmux
This repo provides command-line bridges that Claude Code can call to read and write Apple Reminders, Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Mail, Messages, and tmux sessions. Each bridge exposes plain commands for listing, searching, creating, updating, and deleting items, so Claude can handle planning, inbox work, scheduling, and terminal follow-up from one session.
Builders who want Claude Code to manage Apple apps, message threads, and terminal sessions as part of their workflow.
You can ask Claude to look up information, draft updates, schedule work, and make changes in Apple apps without leaving the session.
What it does
Reminders bridge
Lists, searches, creates, updates, completes, and deletes reminders, including due dates and notes.
Calendar bridge
Reads calendars and events, finds free slots, and adds or deletes events and all-day events.
Contacts bridge
Searches contacts, shows full contact details, and adds, updates, or deletes contact entries.
Notes bridge
Lists, reads, searches, creates, appends to, and deletes Apple Notes, with HTML formatting support.
Mail bridge
Lists, searches, reads, and sends Apple Mail messages, including raw message output and attachments.
Messages bridge
Reads and sends iMessage and SMS conversations, including attachments and unread threads.
Tmux bridge
Lists tmux sessions, windows, and panes, reads pane output, writes keystrokes, and captures snapshots.
Claude Code skill
Installs a `/apple-bridges` skill with a quick reference and per-bridge command docs.

Claude Apple Bridges
Swift CLI tools that give Claude Code native access to Apple apps — Reminders, Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Mail, and tmux. Includes a Claude Code skill (/apple-bridges) with complete command reference for all bridges.

Once set up, you can ask Claude naturally in any Claude Code session. Here are real-world examples:

Claude checks your Reminders and summarizes open items with due dates and priorities.
"I just finished the login bug fix — mark the GitHub issue and the reminder as done."
Claude closes the GitHub issue and calls reminders-bridge complete in one step.

--since accepts Nd / Nw / Nm (days/weeks/months), a bare integer (days), or YYYY-MM-DD.
Unread / search performance: both commands push the filter into Mail.app via a whose clause, so Mail scans the mailbox internally instead of the bridge fetching every message's properties over IPC. On a 50k-message INBOX the old behaviour took minutes; the filtered variant returns in ~1s per account. Use --since 7d to narrow further on servers that index slowly.

--mid example — fetch a specific message without knowing its INBOX index:
search now prints an <mid:...> token for every hit (RFC822 Message-ID).
Pass it to read --mid to fetch the full message directly — no expensive
list walk required, and Mail.app downloads the body if it was only
partially cached.

Use --raw when the default plain-text body strips URLs, images, or attachments you need (e.g. Stripe invoice links, PDF receipts, ticket attachments).

A conversation can be addressed by phone number, email address, group name, or contact name:

How it reads: straight from ~/Library/Messages/chat.db, opened read-only. Apple stores the body of many newer messages only as an archived NSAttributedString in attributedBody and leaves text empty — about a quarter of the rows here. The bridge decodes that typedstream, so those messages do not come back blank. Sender names are resolved through Contacts; unknown handles are shown as-is.
Permissions: reading needs Full Disk Access for the terminal; sending needs Automation -> Messages. The Automation prompt appears on first send, but Full Disk Access must be granted manually in System Settings before the first read.
Note:
senddelivers immediately and asks nothing. Any "confirm before sending" rule belongs in your Claude Code instructions, not in the tool.
If send fails with AppleEvent timed out (-1712): Messages.app's scripting interface is wedged, not missing. The giveaway is that even a trivial script such as tell application "Messages" to get name of every account hangs. Quit Messages.app and reopen it — sending works again immediately.

2. Grant permissions
Run each binary once from Terminal to trigger the macOS permission dialog:

Then approve in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Reminders / Calendars / Contacts / Automation. Notes and Mail access is granted automatically via AppleScript on first use.
messages-bridge additionally needs Full Disk Access for your terminal (to read chat.db) — that one is not prompted for, grant it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access and restart the terminal.
3. Add to Claude Code allowed tools
Add the bridges to your global ~/.claude/settings.json so they work across all projects without confirmation prompts:

Testing
After installing, run the integration test suite to verify everything works:
make test
35 tests cover all commands across all three bridges — exit codes, output validation, and argument handling. No data is modified during tests.
Skills
Skills are structured prompt templates that Claude Code can load automatically when a bridge topic comes up. Instead of relying solely on CLAUDE.md for bridge documentation, the skill provides complete command syntax, parameters, and usage examples on demand.
What Skills Do
When you type /apple-bridges in Claude Code (or when Claude detects you're asking about Reminders, Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Mail, or tmux), the skill loads:
- SKILL.md — Overview of all bridges with a quick reference table
- Detail files — Full documentation per bridge, loaded only when needed
This keeps context usage minimal while giving Claude complete knowledge of every command.
